WITCHES

Witches, the first installment in the “Sisi Eko” series produced by Yemisi Wada, is a compelling narrative that challenges societal perceptions of successful African women. The story revolves around three friends whose lives intertwine as they navigate the bustling city of Lagos. Each character’s journey is marked by distinct personalities, evolving relationships, and dynamic choices, reflecting broader societal issues. When a woman in African society stands strong or defies expectations, she is often labeled a “witch,” and the film uses this motif to explore the lives of its protagonists. With a talented cast that includes Marcy Dolapo Oni, Adunni Ade, and Bikiya Graham-Douglas, Witches premiered on YouTube in August 2020, offering an authentic portrayal of friendship, resilience, and the challenges of modern life.
